The Gallatin School of Individualized Study at New York University is a unique and innovative approach to undergraduate education. Gallatin does not have any set, required courses- students work with advisors to design their own course of study that falls within broader subject areas. This individualized approach allows students to pursue their interests and tailor their education to their specific needs and goals. Gallatin students not only have access to courses at their own school, but also to the courses of the other four NYU schools, giving them a great variety of resources. Whether you're looking for a traditional liberal arts education or something more tailored to your individual interests, NYU Gallatin is definitely worth considering.

The acceptance rate at NYU Gallatin is reflective of the fact that it is a highly selective school. Around 30% of applicants are accepted to the school, which is significantly lower than the national average of 66%. This number has been steadily increasing over the years as NYU becomes more and more competitive.

When I tell people that I attend NYU Gallatin, I often get blank stares in return. That's because Gallatin is a bit of an anomaly within the university. Unlike most colleges, there are no set majors at Gallatin. Individualized programs for study are developed by students and center around a chosen concentration.

The concentration is student-generated and can be interdisciplinary, drawn from multiple areas of study both within and outside NYU. All students must take 3 seminar courses in their first year, including an interdisciplinary seminar, writing seminar, and research seminar. An Intellectual Autobiography and Plan for Concentration must be completed by the end of a student's second year.

During their second-to-last semester of their senior year, students must take and pass an oral examination known as the Colloquium in order to be eligible to graduate. To be adequately prepared for the Colloquium, students must develop a List of Works containing 20-25 pieces of literature that are in some way related to what they are studying, as well as write a Rationale - a short paper outlining the connection between the two.

I personally chose to concentrate in Creative Writing and Social Justice. My List of Works includes everything from novels to poems to essays to plays, all connected by the themes of social justice and storytelling. The process of creating my concentration was both challenging and rewarding, and it has allowed me to pursue my interests in a way that I never could have imagined before coming to NYU Gallatin.

NYU Gallatin alumni have had success in a variety of different fields. Timothée Chalamet, Dakota Fanning, Anne Hathaway, Rooney Mara, Cole and Dylan Sprouse are all successful actors who attended NYU Gallatin. John Ridley is another alumnu of NYU Gallatin who has had great success as a screenwriter; he won an Academy Award for best adapted screenplay.

Robert Kalin is another successful NYU Gallatin alum; he co-founded Etsy, which is now a very popular online marketplace. Jordan Anderson and Blake Slatkin are two more alumni of NYU Gallatin who were recently featured on Forbes’ annual 30 Under 30 list. Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark also graduated from NYU Gallatin in 2019.

Clearly, NYU Gallatin has a lot to offer its students. The school has an impressive roster of successful alumni, in a wide range of different fields. If you're looking for a school that can help you achieve your goals, whatever they may be, NYU Gallatin is definitely worth considering.

The deadline to apply to NYU Gallatin is January 5th. You can submit your early decision application as early as November 1st. The application fee is $80, but students who can't afford it can request a waiver.

To be eligible for admission to NYU Gallatin, you must have completed a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. If you are currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and will not complete the program before enrolling at NYU Gallatin, you may still apply; however, your admission will be provisional until you submit evidence of having earned your degree.

In addition to your online application, you must submit the following materials:

• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
• Two letters of recommendation
• A personal statement
• A resume or CV
• An academic writing sample
• Standardized test scores – GRE, GMAT, MCAT or LSAT score reports are required for some programs

As someone who is currently attending NYU Gallatin, I often wonder if it is worth it. I see the high tuition costs and sometimes question whether or not I am getting my money's worth. A majority of students are able to find employment or enter graduate programs within six months after graduating, based on the data. The class of 2020 had an 86.2% employment rate, with an additional 1.7% employed and in graduate school. This means that only 12.8% of students were still seeking employment after graduation.

Given these statistics, it seems that NYU Gallatin is definitely worth it for those who are looking to enter the workforce or continue their education after graduation. The school provides its students with ample opportunities to network and connect with potential employers or graduate programs, which ultimately leads to success after graduation.
